The Buick Electra is a full-size luxury car that was built by Buick from 1959 to 1990. Harlow H. Curtice, former president of the Buick division and later president of General Motors, named the car after his sister-in-law, Electra Waggoner Biggs.
During its more than 30-year run, Electra was offered in varying body styles including coupe, convertible, sedan, and station wagon. It was rear-wheel drive from 1959 to 1984 and then converted to front-wheel drive (except station wagon) in 1985. The Electra was replaced by the Buick Park Avenue in 1991. The big Buick of 1962 carried four VentiPorts per front fender and featured a rakish sculptured restyle of its 1961 guise. The hardtop coupe and standard hardtop sedan featured a convertible inspired semi-formal roof-line, while the Riviera hardtop sedan continued to use six-window pillar-less configuration. Electra 225 rear fenders had a group of vertical hash-marks, with Electra 225 spelled out in block letters just above. A full length bright strip crowned the upper body ridge, while the tower rocker molding and wheelhouses were accented with bright trim. Wheel covers had a gold accent ring. Interiors were of the finest cloth and, on the convertible, leather was used. Standard features included directional signals, full-flow oil filter, dual speed electric windshield washer/wipers, Deluxe steering wheel, cigar lighter, Step-on parking brake, dual armrests, Turbine-Drive transmission, padded dashboard, heater, defroster, glove box light, back-up lights, power steering, Glare-proof rear-view mirror, power brakes, power brake signal light, safety buzzer, courtesy lights, two-way power seats, power windows, Super Deluxe wheel covers, Safety option group, custom padded cushions, Accessory Group options and custom moldings.

Owner Gordon Martin bought this car back in 2006. It’s 1 of 124 GSX’s built in 1971. Other specs include the 455 stage 1 engine, a BB code turbo 400, A/C, the through-bumper N-25 exhaust option. and Cortez gold paint. With short summers, and minimal opportunities to drive the car, Gordon planned on selling his car to someone who’d enjoy it more after he and his wife traveled to their winter home in Phoenix, AZ. Just before heading home in the spring of 2018, he was invited to show his gold GSX at the November 2018 MCACN in Chicago.
It was a special honor to a part of the “GSX-TASY Invitational” display. So, Gordon decided to keep the car, and with renewed excitement, have it fully restored to Concours condition. Auto Kraft Race Cars & Restorations of Eau Claire, WI was chosen for the job. After countless hours of work in only 6 months, it won the Emerald Buick-First Time Shown Award, and the Classed Judged Award for Blue Ribbon Super Street Modified, plus many more at other venues!

Buick was the irrefutable king of torque during the muscle car era, and one of the best examples was the Buick GS Stage 1. Touting a newly developed 455 ci engine that boasted a staggering 510 lb-ft of torque at 2,800rpm and 360hp, it was in a league of its own. Unlike its brightly painted and speed-striped cousins, the Buick GS Stage 1 was a subdued and refined looking vehicle that just so happened to have a reputation for knocking the socks off its flashy counterparts with its amazing V-8.
This 1970 Buick GS Stage 1 was a labor of love for Carl Rychlik, who purchased the old rattle trap at a Buick swap meet in 1995. After over 4000 hours of weekends and late nights, Rychlik was able to restore this rare car to better than-new condition by 2003. Hemmings Muscle Machines magazine paid tribute to this car by voting it 2006 Muscle Machine of the Year!
